The Telly, 07.28.16 through 08.03.16 – Greeley Tribune

TODAY

11 a.m. on TNT 2016 PGA Championship

Only in an Olympic year will you get two golf majors falling in the same week, as is the case with the Women’s British Open and this traditionally August tournament, the PGA Championship. Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J., is the scene as the likes of Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, Patrick Reed and others tee it up on the 7,501-yard Rees Jones-designed Lower Course, which has hosted this event twice before. Day is the tournament’s defending champion.

6 p.m. on KRMA Democratic National Convention

It’s been a long, often contentious road getting here — but by the time this final night of the Democrats’ gathering is over at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, American voters will have their principal candidate choices for the November presidential election. PBS offers full primetime coverage, with ABC, CBS and NBC planning hourlong reports (which could be extended if events and timing warrant). The cable news networks also will provide substantial coverage.

7 p.m. on CBS The Big Bang Theory

Sheldon and Bernadette (Jim Parsons, Melissa Rauch) get to know each other better in “The Fermentation Bifurcation,” when she’s unable to join the rest of the gang at a wine tasting. The others encounter Penny’s (Kaley Cuoco) former beau (guest star Brian Thomas Smith), which naturally doesn’t make Leonard (Johnny Galecki) too comfortable. Raj (Kunal Nayyar) introduces his new girlfriend (guest star Alessandra Torresani) to his friends.

7 p.m. on ABC BattleBots

The NFL’s Vernon Davis returns as a guest judge in the new episode “The Good, The Bot, and The Ugly: The Round of 32 Concludes,” which indeed puts a capper on the showdown among the 32 teams that advanced from the preceding round. The robots pair off in three-minute fights, and if there’s no decisive victor, the judges — who also include Fon Davis and Jessica Chobot — must select a winner. ESPN’s Samantha Ponder serves as host, with Chris Rose on play-by-play.

7 p.m. on NBC Running Wild With Bear Grylls

Zac Efron has shown his talents in everything from “High School Musical” and “Hairspray” to “The Lucky One” and “Neighbors,” but how is he at wilderness challenges? This episode answers that, in one of the reality show’s celebrity encounters with adventurer Grylls. As an indication of how well Efron adapts to the tasks handed him, it wasn’t kept secret when this first aired that he makes a meal of a bug during the hour.

7 p.m. on KDVR Home Free

It’s another round of sweat equity for those still in the competition in “Flying Solo/Skill Got It,” a two-hour presentation that combines two new episodes. Completing their Dream Houses is within reach for the rivals, but there still are hurdles to be faced and overcome. Hosts Mike Holmes and Tim Tebow furnish advice and encouragement.

7:31 p.m. on CBS Life in Pieces

John (James Brolin) wants to fight getting older by changing his physical appearance, but his family is alarmed by the measures he takes in “Hair Recital Rainbow Mom.” Sophia’s (Giselle Eisenberg) piano recital worries Heather (Betsy Brandt). Fellow birthday-party guests give Jen and Greg (Zoe Lister-Jones, Colin Hanks) preschool concerns. Oscar winner Mercedes Ruehl (“The Fisher King”) guest stars as Colleen’s (Angelique Cabral) mother.

8 p.m. on KWGN DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

To deny Savage (guest star Casper Crump) the help he needs to rule the world, Rip (Arthur Darvill) sends the Legends into the future to eliminate that ally in “Progeny.” However, the person in question turns out to be a youngster (guest star Cory Gruter-Andrew), prompting the team to debate killing a child — despite the evil he supports. Ray (Brandon Routh) gets information that makes him second-guess his relationship with Kendra (Ciara Renee).

8 p.m. on CBS Democratic National Convention

8 p.m. on ABC NBC Democratic National Convention

9 p.m. on KWGN Beauty and the Beast

The complications of married life — and added complications quite unique to their situation — continue to plague Cat and Vincent (Kristin Kreuk, Jay Ryan) in the new episode “The Getaway.” That title suggests just what they take, to attempt to get away from those hunting beasts plus other pursuers. Tess (Nina Lisandrello) tries to put hurdles in the path of a reporter who’s overly curious about Vincent. Austin Basis and Nicole Gale Anderson also star.

9 p.m. on ABC Greatest Hits

Some artists made the transition from the 1990s to the 2000s, but the start of a new decade — and century — also gave rise to other music stars who would make their marks for the first time. Some of them are featured in this new episode that spans songs from 2000 to 2005, with a number of the tunes’ original singers appearing here to croon them. They include Lee Ann Womack, while Little Big Town, Fifth Harmony and co-host Kelsea Ballerini salute others.

11 p.m. on fX Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll

In the new episode “And She Was,” Gigi (Elizabeth Gillies) helps a decidedly nervous Ava (Elaine Hendrix) prepare for her solo debut, while Johnny (Denis Leary) manages to be somewhat supportive as well. Elsewhere, Flash (John Corbett) makes an important decision, while Bam (Robert Kelly) makes an effort to polish a more professional persona.

11 p.m. on COM Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle

Think of it as a Thunderdome of laughs, or a Fight Club for comics: On each night of this four-episode event, ending next Sunday, roastmaster Jeff Ross welcomes a double bill of comics to the stage of the esteemed Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, Canada, where the two jokesters hurl comic brickbats at each other similar to what one would hear in one of Ross’s Comedy Central Roasts. A panel of celebrity judges decides each night’s winner; those finalists face off in next Sunday’s finale.

FRIDAY

7 p.m. on CBS NCIS: Los Angeles

Most of the regular characters are much more dressed up than usual in “Seoul Man,” since they’re on duty to protect the leader of the Pacific Command during a visit. Callen and Sam (Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J) likely would prefer to be back in their usual garb for their other mission in the story, which is to locate a spy from South Korea. Linda Hunt, Daniela Ruah, Eric Christian Olsen and Miguel Ferrer also star.

7 p.m. on ABC Shark Tank

Now, about the difficulty in locating the toilet at night: Two Utah men offer a solution, using an LED light triggered by motion, in this episode. Also. a beer alternative is posed by a Wisconsin duo; a Utah designer reveals fashions that definitely are not dull; and two California animal devotees pitch pet toys that are interactive. A workout program that Daymond John invested in gets an update. Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner are among the other Sharks here.

7 p.m. on SYFY Killjoys

On a new episode called “Meet the Parents,” Johnny (Aaron Ashmore) escorts Pawter (Sarah Power) home for what turns out to be a somewhat chilly family reunion. Meanwhile, D’avin (Luke Macfarlane) experiences some surprising side effects from Khlyen’s Red 17 experiments. Hannah John-Kamen also stars.

8 p.m. on KWGN Masters of Illusion

Since this show’s subtitles generally reflect what’s seen in the given episode, the new offering “Money Matters, Separation Anxiety and One Ninja Turtle” suggests that a so-called “hero on the halfshell” is conjured up by one of the illusionists. They include Nathan Burton, Bill Cook, Chipper Lowell, Titou, Greg Gleason, Greg Frewin and Jason Bishop. Dean Cain is the host. Another episode follows.

8 p.m. on CBS Hawaii Five-0

The discovery of a man near death in the waters off Oahu clues Five-0 into a slavery operation run from an illegal fishing boat in “Kanaka Hahai” (Hawaiian for “The Hunter”). Danny (Scott Caan) finds himself a victim while on an excursion with his children, and he takes unusual steps to retrieve his stolen car. Al Harrington, a cast member during this show’s original 1968-80 incarnation, reprises his earlier guest role. Alex O’Loughlin also stars.

8 p.m. on MAX Outcast

At a time when he most needs allies to help protect him, Reverend Anderson (Philip Glenister) begins to find himself increasingly alienated from those around him in the new episode “What Lurks Within.” Meanwhile, the sinister Sidney (Brent Spiner) drops a shattering revelation on Kyle (Patrick Fugit). Wrenn Schmidt and David Denman also star.

8 p.m. on SYFY Dark Matter

Even for this series, things take a bit of a “noir-ish” turn in a new episode called “We Voted Not to Space You,” which finds the Android (Zoie Palmer) going undercover on a mission to help the Raza crew try to track down a dangerous yet familiar foe. Marc Bendavid, Anthony Lemke, Jodelle Ferland and Melissa O’Neil also star.

9 p.m. on CBS Blue Bloods

A criminal’s rehabilitation can’t necessarily be guaranteed, and Erin (Bridget Moynahan) fears she has given too much credit to one in “Fresh Start.” She’s instrumental in a felon’s release, but shortly afterward, the man becomes a suspected cop-killer. Mayor Poole (David Ramsey) plays coy, for political reasons, about rehiring Frank (Tom Selleck) as police commissioner. Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, Len Cariou and Sami Gayle also star.

9 p.m. on KRMA The Great British Baking Show

“Victorian” isn’t only the title of this new episode, it also indicates the era from which the featured recipes are drawn. Pies stuffed with game comprise the first of the hour’s challenges for the remaining contestants, followed by the task of creating a fruit cake — plus a cake that looks like a tennis court. Finally, the Showstopper round involves the preparation of the dessert Charlotte Russe, which can be tough to keep standing as it’s meant to.

SATURDAY

6 p.m. on HBO Movie: The 33

Claustrophobes may want to think twice before tuning in to this fact-based 2015 Chilean drama (in English) that chronicles the heroic efforts of a rescue team working tirelessly for 69 days to save 33 Chilean miners trapped underground by more than 2,000 feet of rock. The cast includes Antonio Banderas, Juliette Binoche, Rodrigo Santoro, Lou Diamond Phillips and Mario Casas.

6 p.m. on LIFE Movie: Killer Coach

In this new thriller, a senior high school student and Olympic swimming hopeful is crushed when her beloved coach leaves to take another job just before the Olympic trials. She’s thrilled, then, when a world-class coach steps up to fill the vacancy, but the latter’s win-at-any-cost approach sends up red flags for her young charge. Not surprisingly, though, the new coach clearly doesn’t see quitting as an option. Keesha Sharp, Javicia Leslie, Cameron Jebo and Tom Maden star.

7 p.m. on CBS Rush Hour

Is the hotel that a young woman vanished from haunted? That’s one of the concerns for the detectives in the new episode “Knock, Knock … House Creeping!,” as the disappearance prompts Captain Cole (Wendie Malick) to fear a serial killer is back after several years. Carter and Lee (Justin Hires, Jon Foo) try to help her solve the case. Half-sisters Spencer and Greer Grammer, daughters of Kelsey Grammer, and Gabriel Mann (“Revenge”) guest star.

7 p.m. on KDVR Heaven Sent

You’d figure that someone jumping out of an airplane from an altitude of 25,000 feet would want something to cushion the blow of reconnecting with Earth. Then, there’s Luke Aikins, a skydiver and precision flyer who evidently doesn’t need anything like … oh, a parachute. He attempts the stunt in this new special, allegedly taking the plunge with only the clothes he has on. Such movies as “Point Break” and “Moonraker” suggest achieving it is doable, so we’ll see.

7 p.m. on SHOW Boxing

The WBA world featherweight championship is on the line tonight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., where Leo Santa Cruz will defend his title from Carl Frampton. At 5 feet 5 inches, Frampton (22-0, 14 KOs) will likely be in for a tough fight as he moves up in weight to challenge the 5-feet-7 1/2-inch Santa Cruz (32-0-1, 18 KOs).

7 p.m. on HALL Movie: For Love & Honor

James Denton (“Desperate Housewives”) stars in this new romantic comedy as a recently retired, strictly-by-the-book Army veteran who takes over Stone Creek Academy, a failing military school on the verge of being sold at auction. Almost immediately, however, he clashes with the beautiful and newly hired dean of academics (Natalie Brown, “The Strain”), whose touchy-feely personal style sets the vet’s teeth on edge. As they struggle with their seemingly impossible goal, however, romance starts to blossom.

8 p.m. on ABC 20/20: In an Instant

“Murder in the Maternity Ward” re-creates the true-life and frightening dilemma of the patients and staff of a hospital invaded by a vengeful gunman. The targeted doctor appears here, discussing the actions he took to protect newborns and their mothers. Stories of nurses who similarly worked to keep those in their care safe also are told, in some cases by people who actually were involved in the crisis.

8 p.m. on KDVR Wayward Pines

A lot more is known about the title Idaho town than when this M. Night Shyamalan-produced series started, but there still are secrets to be revealed in “Enemy Lines,” the episode that launched the show’s second season. Jason Patric (“Rush”) joins the cast as a doctor who’s new to the locale, but soon finds himself battling the so-called First Generation. Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond”) also joins the show here.

8 p.m. on AMC The American West

In the season finale, “The Last Vendetta,” Sitting Bull is accused of inciting a rebellion, while Wyatt Earp turns his back on the letter of the law in a search for what would come to be regarded as frontier justice. Jesse James is confronted by the Ford Brothers, an encounter that was memorably chronicled in the Oscar-nominated 2007 Brad Pitt film “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.” As that title suggests, it did not end well.

9 p.m. on ABC Boston EMS

Unscripted series with medical themes have been parts of ABC’s summer lineup for a number of years, and the second-season premiere of this show maintains the tradition. As its title suggests, it follows Massachusetts first responders as they deal with a variety of cases. Some of those profiled here have connections to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, and they discuss how they have dealt with the aftermath and carried on in their professions.

10:30 p.m. on KDVR Home Free

“Pressure’s On” is a more-than-apt title for this episode, as tension builds for the couples involved in the competition. Hosts Mike Holmes and Tim Tebow advise them to keep their cool, but that proves to be easier said than done as the challenges increase — a phenomenon not unknown to many other people who have tried to generate their “dream house.”

SUNDAY

11:30 a.m. on NBCSP NASCAR Racing

The “Tricky Triangle” of Pocono Raceway is the scene today as Sprint Cup drivers gear up for the Pennsylvania 400. With its low banking and turns modeled after ones at three different tracks, this 2.5-mile tri-oval drives more like a road course than an oval, thus resulting in slower speeds. Denny Hamlin, Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson have each won here multiple times. Matt Kenseth is the race’s defending champion.

3:30 p.m. on NBCSP IndyCar Racing

IndyCar hits the road — as in road course — at the Sports Car Course for today’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. The 13-turn, 2.258-mile layout offers drivers a little bit of everything — elevation changes, a narrow racing ribbon and a variety of corners. Scott Dixon, with five Mid-Ohio victories, runs well here, and he’ll be in a field including Helio Castroneves, James Hinchcliffe, Will Power, Ryan Hunter-Reay and defending race champ Graham Rahal.

6 p.m. on KDVR The Simpsons

In sort of a twist on the plot of “Indecent Proposal,” Homer (voice of Dan Castellaneta) turns Lisa (voice of Yeardley Smith) over to a Broadway star for a month to settle a bet in “Lisa With an ’S”’ (a takeoff on Liza Minnelli’s “Liza With a ’Z’,” for those who might not make the connection). Lisa enjoys her new life on the Great White Way a bit too much for Homer and Marge (voice of Julie Kavner), so they set out to retrieve her.

6 p.m. on SYFY Movie: Sharknado: The 4th Awakens

Chainsaw-wielding hero Fin Shepard (returning star Ian Ziering) and his family have enjoyed five years without shark-filled storms as the action picks up in this latest entry in the campy, deliberately cheesy horror comedy franchise, which finds Chicago and Las Vegas besieged before the terror spreads more widely. Tara Reid also returns, as do David Hasselhoff and Ryan Newman; franchise newbies include Hasselhoff’s former “Baywatch” colleagues Gena Lee Nolin and Alexandra Paul.

6:30 p.m. on KDVR Bob’s Burgers

Several of cable’s most popular personalities of recent times — Samantha Bee, Billy Eichner and Sarah Silverman — all supply guest voices for “Lice Things Are Lice.” The title indicates the problem that affects Wagstaff, as an outbreak of lice coincides with Tina’s (voice of Dan Mintz) volunteer work with Nurse Liz (Bee’s voice character). Bob’s (voice of H. Jon Benjamin) enhancements to the restaurant turn off his clientele.

7 p.m. on KRMA Dancing on the Edge

The drama continues by potentially charting the fates of a number of characters, as Pamela, Stanley and Sarah (Joanna Vanderham, Matthew Goode, Janet Montgomery) do what they can to help the fugitive Louis (Chiwetel Ejiofor) keep the police from catching him. Lady Cremone (Jacqueline Bisset) is of considerably less assistance, since she’s convinced of Louis’ guilt. Sarah is swayed to reveal things she shouldn’t to a police officer. John Goodman also stars.

7 p.m. on ABC Celebrity Family Feud

The teams definitely come from specific backgrounds in this new episode. The first contest pits veterans of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” — including Ben Higgins and Andi Dorfman — against each other, while the second puts Indy-car drivers (such as Helio Castroneves and James Hinchcliffe) opposite a team of Sports Illustrated models (Nina Agdal and Hannah Ferguson among them). Host Steve Harvey is sure to keep the quips coming here.

7 p.m. on NBC Hollywood Game Night

Marlon Wayans isn’t just a celebrity participant in this episode, he’s the source of its title, ‘Way-ans to Go!” Fellow humorists Kevin Nealon and Bill Engvall also are on board — as are Mario Lopez, Nicole Scherzinger and Miranda Cosgrove — in playing a variety of party games to try to help an everyday citizen win $25,000. Jane Lynch waxes typically funny as the show’s host, a job that has earned her two Emmy Awards.

7 p.m. on KDVR Teen Choice 2016

As usual, the lucky will leave with a surfboard, since that’s the “trophy” in this annual ceremony that reveals young fans’ picks of favorites in movies, television, music, sports, fashion and social media. Victoria Justice and WWE icon (and “American Grit” host) John Cena preside over the event at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., with Justin Timberlake slated to receive the Decade Award. Scheduled performers include Flo Rida, Charlie Puth and Serayah.

7 p.m. on STARZ Power

Ghost (Omari Hardwick) tries to outshine some devious rivals when he is presented with a business opportunity, but he has to keep an eye peeled for a revenge move by Lobos (Enrique Murciano) in the new episode “I Got This on Lock.” Tommy (Joseph Sikora) likewise is distracted on multiple fronts as he and Tasha (Naturi Naughton) reunite over a business scheme, while Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) crosses a line, testing both Tasha and Ghost.

7 p.m. on HBO The Night Of

As his young client (Riz Ahmed) struggles to hold it together during the most terrifying experience of his life, attorney John Stone (John Turturro) wades through a maddening morass of often contradictory evidence and interview statements in a determined quest to unearth information about the crime that could help clear his client. Bill Camp and Michael Kenneth Williams also star in the new episode “The Art of War.”

7 p.m. on TNT The Last Ship

Given current world events, it’s almost hard to imagine that viewers would flock to a program with story lines that start with the phrase “Americans struggle to cope with another tragedy,” but that’s indeed the situation in the new episode “Sea Change.” Meanwhile, resident good guy Chandler (Eric Dane) takes his investigation further into reports that the deadly virus may be mutating in ways that could render it resistant to any existing vaccine. Adam Baldwin, Mark Moses and Travis Van Winkle also star.

7 p.m. on AMC Preacher

Season 1 of this (mostly) acclaimed adaptation of writer Garth Ennis’ very dark comic book series draws to a close with “Call and Response,” in which the residents of tiny Annville, Texas, wait breathlessly to see whether Jesse (Dominic Cooper) will be able to deliver on his promise to get some important answers from Heaven. Joseph Gilgun, Ruth Negga, Lucy Griffiths and W. Earl Brown also star.

7 p.m. on FOOD Food Network Star

It’s (nearly) all over but the coronation in the season finale, “A New Food Network Star,” as the three finalists nervously wait to discover who will land his or her own spot in the network’s lineup. First, though, the final trio watches their pilots with co-hosts Giada De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay. Then, after 10 brutally challenging weeks of competition, the winner is announced.

8 p.m. on CBS Madam Secretary

What starts as a routine college campus tour for Elizabeth and Alison (Tea Leoni, Kathrine Herzer) turns into an ambush when Elizabeth is confronted by an angry crowd protesting a Chilean mining operation that involves both the U.S. and Chilean governments. Elsewhere, Henry, Jane and Jose Campos (Tim Daly, Jill Hennessy, Carlos Gomez) search for the third wife of Jibral Disah in “Higher Learning.”

8 p.m. on KRMA Masterpiece Mystery!

Thirteen years after the first successful arrest of Lewis’ (Kevin Whately) career as a detective inspector, the case is reopened for appeal based on dubious forensics in “Inspector Lewis, Season 7: Beyond Good and Evil.” Lewis already fears the worst, but even so he is unprepared for a new string of murders resembling the original killings, with the original weapon. Did he arrest the wrong man? Laurence Fox also stars.

8 p.m. on ABC The $100,000 Pyramid

They don’t always agree as panelists on “Shark Tank,” which makes it likely that Barbara Corcoran and Daymond John also will be strong competitors in this new episode. That’s actually the second contest, and in the first, current “America’s Funniest Home Videos” host Alfonso Ribeiro and chef Mario Batali (“The Chew”) try to get their respective teammates to the Winner’s Circle by guessing clues to categories correctly. Michael Strahan is the host.

8 p.m. on STARZ Survivor’s Remorse

After they meet a wealthy Atlanta couple, Missy and Reggie (Teyonah Parris, RonReaco Lee) find themselves unable to agree on several points regarding the importance of modern manners and what an important role etiquette plays in social affairs in a new episode called “The Thank You Note.” Jessie T. Usher, Erica Ash and Tichina Arnold also star.

8 p.m. on TNT Murder in the First

Terry and Hildy (Taye Diggs, Kathleen Robertson) are depressed by the likelihood that one of their most promising suspects has fallen victim to his gangster enemies in a new episode called “Sam I Am.” On a more personal note, when Hildy accepts another date with Burnside (Jamie McShane), Terry is forced to examine his honest feelings. Elsewhere, Siletti (Currie Graham) prepares for his trial.

8:01 p.m. on HBO Ballers

When the truth behind Vernon’s (Donovan Carter) injury threatens his career, Spencer (Dwayne Johnson) urges his reluctant client to keep his mouth shut in the new episode “Elidee.” Meanwhile, Spencer and Joe (Rob Corddry) clash over the best advice to offer a client as they try to stave off Andre’s (Andy Garcia) attacks on their firm. Charles (Omar Benson Miller) frets over whether he can handle a challenge that confronts him, while Ricky (John David Washington) tours a potential new home.

8:01 p.m. on SYFY Van Helsing

This new series officially joins the Syfy lineup in September, but its first episode gets sneaked tonight. Set in the near future, after a mysterious event gave vampires dominion over most of the world, the show — created by playwright Neil LaBute — stars Kelly Overton as Vanessa Helsing, daughter of the legendary vampire hunter of “Dracula” fame, who comes back from the dead to lead humans against their bloodsucking overlords. The cast also includes Jonathan Scarfe, Paul Johansson, Christopher Heyerdahl and David Cubitt.

8:20 p.m. on AMC Talking Preacher

“Preacher” premiered in May to very strong reviews and promising ratings, but for such a high-profile pop-culture event, this series has resolutely failed to become a “water-cooler show.” Host Chris Hardwick probably won’t raise that particular topic — at least not directly — as he reunites members of the creative team after tonight’s Season 1 finale, but it’ll be interesting to see how they try to reboot fan interest in a show that has sputtered fitfully in creative terms during this first season.

8:30 p.m. on HBO Vice Principals

During a field trip organized by Mr. Hayden (Mike O’Gorman), the school’s good-guy history teacher, Gamby (Danny McBride, who also directed this episode) looks for opportunities to impress the fetching Amanda (Georgia King) in a new episode called, understandably enough, “The Field Trip.” Walton Goggins and Kimberly Hebert-Gregory also star.

9 p.m. on CBS BrainDead

As the nation’s capital continues to be bugged, literally, Laurel and Gareth (Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aaron Tveit) find more common ground in a new episode titled — take a deep breath, now — “Notes Toward A Post-Reagan Theory Of Party Alliance, Tribalist, and Loyalty: Past as Prologue.” Red (Tony Shalhoub) opposes Luke’s (Danny Pino) efforts to have funding of the Centers for Disease Control reinstated. Megan Hilty (“Smash”) continues her guest role.

9:30 p.m. on KRMA The Tunnel

The truths are still out there as the mystery continues in “Episode 7,” which stirs suspicions that the Truth Terrorist may have a connection to the police. Karl and Elise (Stephen Dillane, Clemence Poesy) are among those perusing a list of officers who may fit the bill, but they don’t reach any conclusions in time to prevent the felon from striking again. Adeel Akhtar, Jean-Toussaint Bernard and Jack Everson also star.

MONDAY

6 p.m. on FREE The Fosters

Lena (Sherri Saum) gets pushed to the limit after she uncovers major secrets that both her father and Brandon (Bruce Davison, David Lambert) have been keeping, in the new episode “Justify.” Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) faces harsh opposition from the male members on her STEAM team, while Jesus (Noah Centineo) resents Emma’s (Amanda Leighton) behavior. Elsewhere, Jude (Hayden Byerly) learns that Noah (Kalana Epstein) has a medical marijuana card.

6 p.m. on FOOD Cupcake Wars

In the new episode “Celebrity: Medieval Cupcakes,” Yvette Nicole Brown, Brooke Burke-Charvet, Carson Kressley and Vanessa Marano share a “knight” to remember as they compete to prove which of them deserves to have their cupcakes featured at a party celebrating the 30th anniversary of Medieval Times, the dinner-and-tournament attraction. Medieval Times cast members Lou Klein and Julie McCurdie join Florian Bellanger and Elizabeth Chambers to help select the winner.

7 p.m. on CBS Mom

David Krumholtz (“NUMB3RS”) plays the new man in Violet’s (Sadie Calvano) life in “A Commemorative Coin and a Misshapen Head.” His character seems a bit old to be her boyfriend — which is exactly the concern of Christy and Bonnie (Anna Faris, Allison Janney), but they aren’t quite sure how to approach the subject with her. Matt Jones, French Stewart and Mimi Kennedy also star. Another episode airs an hour later.

7 p.m. on KRMA Antiques Roadshow

The setting may be New Orleans for this new “Vintage” episode, but devotees of a classic baseball team from another city surely will be interested in one of the items reassessed here. It’s a ball from the 1955 World Series that featured the Brooklyn Dodgers, and either that or another of the objects revisited — including a mid-19th-century map of the lower Mississippi — could be worth as much as $200,000 now. Mark L. Walberg is the host.

7 p.m. on ABC The Bachelorette

As it inevitably must, the moment of truth arrives for JoJo Fletcher in this season finale. Sure, it seemed like a lot of fun when the 26 fellows vying for her heart first stepped out of the limousines — but now, it’s down to the last two, and previews that have been running for weeks have promised tears aplenty when she reveals her choice: “I just said goodbye to someone I love!” She’ll see him again, though, since the “After the Final Rose” special follows.

7 p.m. on NBC American Ninja Warrior

Oklahoma City is the show’s site again for a new round of finals, pitting the 30 top competitors from that city against an enhanced obstacle course. They have to face the Salmon Ladder, the Bungee Road, the Pinch Grab and the Invisible Ladder for the first time. The goal is to qualify for the season’s ultimate finals in Las Vegas, which will net the winner $1 million. Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila are the hosts, and Kristine Leahy co-hosts.

7 p.m. on KDVR So You Think You Can Dance

The number of this season’s remaining contenders is down to … well, we’ll let the title of the new episode “The Next Generation: Top 8 Perform and Elimination” do the work for us. That only will be the case for so long, though, since someone will be sent home before the two-hour telecast is over. Paula Abdul, Jason Derulo, Nigel Lythgoe and Maddie Ziegler are the judges, and Cat Deeley is the host.

7 p.m. on HBO Meet the Donors: Does Money Talk?

Filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi examines the hot-button topic of campaign financing and related crusades for reform in her new documentary that features interviews with deep-pocket donors who give millions of dollars to fund America’s presidential candidates. The troubling question, obviously, is: What do they expect in return, even apart from presumed easy access to the candidate they are helping to bankroll?

7 p.m. on TNT Rizzoli & Isles

On the morning that Jane (Angie Harmon) is supposed to testify in a major murder trial, she discovers that a key piece of evidence has been stolen. A judge gives the department three days to solve the case without relying on that evidence, or the accused party will be released in the new episode “65 Hours.” Elsewhere, Frankie (Jordan Bridges) decides to learn some magic tricks to impress Nina (Idara Victor) after discovering she is a fan of illusionists.

7 p.m. on LIFE Devious Maids

In the new episode “Much Ado About Buffing,” Marisol (Ana Ortiz) learns a secret from Genevieve’s (Susan Lucci) past that could hold a clue to Peri’s killer. Zoila (Judy Reyes) has her hands full juggling a boyfriend, a demanding new boss and Rosie’s (Dania Ramirez) need for her to help solve the murder. Danni (Sol Rodriguez) seems to be warming up to Carmen (Roselyn Sanchez), but she may have a hidden agenda. Meanwhile, Miguel (Alejandro Vera) begins acting out at school.

7 p.m. on FREE Guilt

In the new episode “A Fall From Grace,” Natalie (Emily Tremaine) begins to doubt Grace’s (Daisy Head) innocence for the first time as the case against her sister piles up, especially after Bruno (Cristian Solimeno) shows her a tape of Grace planting evidence. After Natalie directly confronts Grace, she leaves that conversation even more disturbed and unsure of what is true. Meanwhile, Stan (Billy Zane) tips off the press that Molly worked as a prostitute.

7 p.m. on FOOD Cake Wars

One of the most popular, action-packed video games in the world, “Halo,” is being celebrated at an upcoming bash, and four exceptional bakers in tonight’s new episode compete to see which of their confectionary creations will be selected as the centerpiece for that event. Judging their efforts will be regular panelists Waylynn Lucas and Ron Ben-Israel, joined by guest judge Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb, Microsoft’s director of programming.

7:30 p.m. on CBS 2 Broke Girls

Caroline also meets with actresses hoping to be cast as her in the movie about her life.

8 p.m. on KWGN Supergirl

Look! Up in the sky! “Glee” alum Melissa Benoist turned into Krypton’s favorite daughter in this “Pilot” for the series, which marks its move to The CW with repeats of episodes first shown on CBS. Helen Slater (the 1980s movie “Supergirl”) and former TV “Superman” Dean Cain play the heroine’s foster parents. Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Jeremy Jordan (“Smash”) and Mehcad Brooks also are featured. Another episode follows.

Keene) father and uncle.

8 p.m. on LIFE UnREAL

As Coleman (Michael Rady) pressures her to help him destroy Quinn (Constance Zimmer) and the show, Rachel (Shiri Appleby) hatches a scheme of her own in the new episode “Espionage.” Darius and Jay (B.J. Britt, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman) team up to ensure their two favorite candidates make it into the final two, but their alliance is quickly tested. Meanwhile, Quinn gets some information that changes her perspective on both “Everlasting” and her life as a whole.

8 p.m. on AMC The Making of the Mob: Chicago

You don’t have to be a history scholar to know of the “St. Valentine’s Day Massacre,” the 1929 bloodbath in a Chicago garage that gives this new episode its title. This murder of seven men is a dramatic gesture by Al Capone, part of a bid to assert his power over his enemies. President Herbert Hoover could hardly fail to notice, however, so he dispatches crime fighter Elliot Ness to take on the gangster.

9 p.m. on CBS Scorpion

Someone is working against the CIA from the inside, and unless Team Scorpion can figure out who it is in time, deadly chemicals may be released into the atmosphere in “Charades.” Walter (Elyes Gabel) and his cohorts have to apply all their abilities to determining the identity of the mole. Paige (Katharine McPhee) believes that entails helping Walter improve his social skills. Robert Patrick and Eddie Kaye Thomas also star.

9 p.m. on KRMA POV

A longtime fixture on the New York fashion scene, Iris Apfel is the subject of the aptly titled “Iris,” one of the last documentaries made by Albert Maysles (“Grey Gardens,” “Gimme Shelter”). Apfel’s sense of style brought her renewed fame with a 2005 exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and here, she’s seen with since-deceased husband Carl discussing their relationship and fabric-restoration work they did for many museums — and for the White House.

9 p.m. on NBC Running Wild With Bear Grylls

Don’t be “Jealous,” to coin the title of one of his biggest music hits: Nick Jonas tackles the Sierra Nevada Mountains with Grylls in this opener of the series’ third season, showing what he’s made of besides very good vocal cords. The trek allows for plenty of conversation, so Jonas talks about embarking on a solo career after finding initial fame in tandem with his brothers. He also reflects on fame itself, and how diabetes drove him to pursue it.

TUESDAY

6 p.m. on FREE Pretty Little Liars

As the Rosewood Police Department starts to dismantle the Liars’ elaborate cover-up, the friends begin to question whether Rollins really is dead in the new episode “Wanted: Dead or Alive.” Hannah (Ashley Benson) debates whether to come clean with the police, while Ali (Sasha Pieterse) is none too pleased to find out her friends gave her up as Charlotte’s killer to win Hannah’s freedom. Elsewhere, a character is murdered for choosing alliances poorly. Lucy Hale and Ian Harding also star.

6 p.m. on FOOD Chopped Junior

The junior chefs try not to get “Rattled” in this new episode during an appetizer round that tasks them with butchering and cooking snakes. Actor Chris Colfer (“Glee”) joins chefs Amanda Freitag and Raiza Costa on the judges panel; Ted Allen is the host.

6:45 p.m. on A&E Married at First Sight

After a scant two weeks of preparations, this season’s social experiment officially gets under way as the six singles take the plunge and get married in the new episode “The Weddings.” Heather is praying Derek will live up to her dreams of being with a truly good man, while Sonia is attracted to Nick, whose feelings for her seem a little more ambivalent. Pauley Perrette and David McCallum also star.

7 p.m. on KRMA The Nazi Games — Berlin 1936

The Olympiad that made track-and-field medalist Jesse Owens a household name also was notable for making the Games widely recognized — not only that year, but for ages to come — as detailed by this new special. The occasion was a boon for the International Olympic Committee, which enjoyed television coverage for the first time … but it had a very particular meaning for Adolf Hitler, who wanted to use the event to promote the Nazi party to the world at large.

7 p.m. on ABC Bachelor in Paradise

For only a brief time each year, television is “Bachelor”- and “Bachelorette”-free … and this isn’t it, so here’s the third season of past contestants from those shows on another search for love. Host Chris Harrison is on hand, of course, as the would-be romantics share accommodations in Mexico. Among the returnees: enemy-to-all-other-men (evidently) Chad from the just-ending “Bachelorette,” and twins Emily and Haley from the most recent “Bachelor.”

7 p.m. on NBC America’s Got Talent

Fans of this show should take the chance to get their fill of it here: It will be missing for the next couple of weeks due to Olympics coverage, though the results show linked to this episode still airs Wednesday. This second of the season’s live (in the eastern half of the country) telecasts includes three competitors who earned Golden Buzzers — sending them straight through to this round. Mel B, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel are the judges.

7 p.m. on KDVR Coupled

The series has been all about what transpires in the two-hour season finale, “Coupled Up, Part 1/Coupled Up, Part 2.” Those who have found romance on the island have to decide whether they’re going to leave as part of a pair or individually, and they get some help in reaching their conclusions: Relatives show up to advise them — and also to pose some very tough questions. Terrence “J” Jenkins is the host.

7 p.m. on TNT Animal Kingdom

The local police put J (Finn Cole) in an impossible situation as his uncles prepare to go after the biggest score of their lives in the new episode “Judas Kiss.” Meanwhile, Smurf (Ellen Barkin) grows suspicious of Catherine’s (Daniella Alonso) motives when the latter comes over seeking to make amends, so she sends Pope (Shawn Hatosy) to investigate the situation.

7 p.m. on FREE Dead of Summer

Events at Camp Stillwater have taken such a dark turn that the counselors no longer can ignore that something seriously wrong is going on in the new episode “The Dharma Bums.” As they search for answers, some members of the camp staff decide to take drastic measures to gain information, while Deputy Sykes (Alberto Frezza) receives a tip from the past that suggests he is on the right track. Elizabeth Mitchell also stars; Charles Mesure, Tony Todd and Dylan Neal guest star.

7 p.m. on MTV The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now

Six years after the cancellation of the hit reality series that helped make her a pop-culture star, Lauren Conrad returns to host this new special in which she reflects on the impact the show had on her and her castmates, including Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port and Kristin Cavallari. The program also provides updates on what has been happening in the lives of these “Hills” stars since the show went off the air.

8 p.m. on KWGN Whose Line Is It Anyway?

As the start of the Olympics nears, much of the television universe is getting in on the act — even this show, since three-time gold medalist Misty May-Treanor is this new episode’s main guest. She can return a volleyball with the best of them, but she shows how her return on one-liners is by teaming with Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles and guests Jeff Davis and Brad Sherwood to improvise skits and songs. Aisha Tyler is the host. Another episode follows.

8 p.m. on CBS Zoo

Jackson’s (James Wolk) background could hold clues to the needed cure for the animal uprising in the new episode “Jamie’s Got a Gun.” Mitch takes the lead in that search, while the other team members continue their own probe in a town in England. Guest stars include Ken Olin (“thirtysomething”) and Bess Armstrong (“My So-Called Life”) as Jackson’s parents. Kristen Connolly and Nonso Anozie also star.

8 p.m. on KRMA American Experience

The Berlin Olympics of the mid-1930s are remembered largely for the role of track-and-field medalist Jesse Owens, but other American athletes also made their marks in those Games, as recounted by the new episode “The Boys of ’36.” Based on a best-seller by Daniel James Brown, it recalls the Depression-era inspiration supplied by nine University of Washington rowers who showed endurance not only against rivals backed by Adolf Hitler, but also elite U.S. teams.

8 p.m. on AMC Feed the Beast

In the season finale, “Fire,” Tommy (David Schwimmer) puts it all on the line and makes a bold offer to Woichik (Michael Gladis), the intimidating “Tooth Fairy,” hoping to settle Dion’s (Jim Sturridge) debt, once and for all. Elsewhere, young TJ (Elijah Jacob) tries to figure out the disturbing truth of his mother, Rie’s (Christine Adams), death by piecing together his memories.

8 p.m. on FOOD Chopped

After winning $10,000 each in their previous rounds, the four champion finalists return in the new “Chopped Grill Masters Napa: Grand Finale” to see who will claim an additional $50,000. Amanda Freitag, Geoffrey Zakarian and Marc Murphy are the judges for this tournament finale; Ted Allen is the host.

9 p.m. on CBS NCIS: New Orleans

“Shock radio” gets a new meaning in “Radio Silence,” as a Navy captain is killed shortly after facing an attack while on the airwaves. That broadcast’s host them becomes a target, prompting Pride (Scott Bakula) and his team to provide protection. Pride also has personal matters to deal with, since daughter Laurel (Shanley Caswell) comes home to have a chat about her future. Amy Price-Francis guest stars. Lucas Black, Zoe McLellan and CCH Pounder also star.

9 p.m. on KRMA Independent Lens

When women were permitted to box in the Olympics for the first time in 2012, Claressa “T-Rex” Shields took full advantage of the opportunity, winning a gold medal. As she goes back to the Games for their stint in Rio de Janeiro, the documentary “T-Rex: Her Fight for Gold” details the personal struggles she had to overcome — and her coach, Jason Crutchfield, proved an incalculable help by taking her into his family’s home and keeping her focus directed.

9 p.m. on ABC Mistresses

Karen (Yunjin Kim) worries when Alec (guest star Ed Quinn) wants complete custody of Vivian in the new episode “Survival of the Fittest.” An item discovered in Lucy’s (guest star Corinne Massiah) jacket prompts April (Rochelle Aytes) to have a discussion virtually every mother has with a daughter. Kate (Tabrett Bethell) has reasons for keeping quiet about her new romance. An accident leads to problems between Joss and Harry (Jes Macallan, Brett Tucker).

9 p.m. on NBC Running Wild With Bear Grylls

She’s faced the challenges of the dance floor (“Dancing With the Stars”), a live television musical (“Grease: Live”) and movie acting (“Footloose”), but Julianne Hough tackles a series of fresh tasks as the next celebrity to submit to the Grylls brand of outdoor adventure in this new episode. She joins him in Africa, where they encounter an elephant pack, big cats and a snake. And for extra hurdles, there are steep cliffs and waterfalls.

WEDNESDAY

7 p.m. on KRMA Koko — The Gorilla Who Talks

In the early 1970s, psychologist Penny Patterson began her mission to educate a baby gorilla in sign language, and this new special — culled in part from more than 2,000 hours of footage filmed of that process over the years — traces the challenges that have been faced by both Patterson and Koko. Some critics questioned whether the effort was a success, while Koko suffered a major loss with the death of her kitten, yielding an image that became globally famous.

7 p.m. on ABC CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock

The annual, Country Music Association-sponsored CMA Fest for stars to take the stage — and meet fans — took place in Nashville, Tenn., over four days in June, and many highlights are compiled in this annual three-hour special. Brett Eldredge and Thomas Rhett, who toured together last fall, are the show’s first-time hosts. They also perform, as do Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert and Rascal Flatts.

7 p.m. on KDVR MasterChef

Cake continues to be very much a part of the challenges as the new two-hour presentation “The Weakest Links/Sweet Surprise” makes a three-layer birthday cake the quest of the contestants who lost the previous round. Those who survive the next elimination go on a literal field trip, with farmers in the audience for their next culinary creations. Then, a breakfast dish using a certain ingredient is the assignment. Gordon Ramsay is the host and a judge.

7 p.m. on USA Suits

Mike (Patrick J. Adams) considers whether he should accept a deal that could reduce his prison sentence, while Rachel (Meghan Markle) represents a Death Row inmate in the new episode “Turn.” Back at the office, Jessica and Louis (Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman) take different approaches to deal with tenants. Gabriel Macht and Sarah Rafferty also star.

7 p.m. on E! Botched By Nature

You’ve probably seen cosmetic surgeons Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif trying to help victims of unfortunate plastic surgery gone awry on their hit reality series “Botched,” but this new spinoff finds Drs. Nassif and Dubrow traveling across the United States to treat people who were “botched” by Mother Nature or some physical trauma. In many cases, since the patients in question did not live in a cosmetic surgery mecca such as Los Angeles, they’ve been living with their condition for years with little hope of getting help.

7 p.m. on SYFY Ghost Hunters

As the series opens its 11th — and, according to a June announcement from group founder Jason Hawes, its final — season on Syfy, the TAPS team heads to Cleveland to investigate a rail yard and roundhouse rumored to be the site of eerie phenomena. According to those reports, some on the premises have had encounters with victims of ghastly accidents and perhaps even a serial killer in the new episode “All Aboard the Ghost Train.”

7:30 p.m. on A&E Duck Dynasty

In the new episode “Children of the Cornbread,” a competitive cook-off ensues after the Robertson brothers can’t agree as to which of their wives makes the best cornbread. Elsewhere, Jep, Martin and Godwin’s practical joke on Uncle Si backfires, handing Si the precious last laugh.

8 p.m. on KWGN Penn & Teller: Fool Us

“Penn Plays With Fire” is yet another new episode title that offers a strong suggestion of the sorts of illusions encompassed by the hour. It wouldn’t be out of range to assume that fire extinguishers might be placed a little closer to the stage than usual this time. The showcased magicians trying to impress — and baffle — Penn & Teller include David & Leeman, Jibrizy, Rick Maisel and Felix Bodden. Alyson Hannigan serves as host.

8 p.m. on CBS Criminal Minds

Those who consider taking a respite at truck stops might reconsider after seeing “The Bond,” in which restrooms at such locales in the South become murder sites. Rossi (Joe Mantegna) and the team hit the highways to find the perpetrator and the reason for the killings. Guest stars include Wilson Bethel (“Hart of Dixie”) and Veronica Cartwright (“Alien”). Thomas Gibson, A.J. Cook, Shemar Moore and Matthew Gray Gubler also star.

8 p.m. on KRMA NOVA

When it comes to Rome, there’s a city beneath the city, a system of tunnels holding many of the secrets — and some of the bodies, literally — of its ancient era. “Roman Catacomb Mystery” puts forensic sleuths on the case of skeletons found in hidden rooms discovered by maintenance workers. How they got there, and who or what was responsible for the deaths, are questions that propel the investigation that applies modern techniques to 2000-year-old finds.

8 p.m. on NBC The Night Shift

In the new two-hour presentation “Between a Rock and a Hard Place/Trust Issues,” problems mount for TC and Paul (Eoin Macken, Robert Bailey Jr.). While trying to help save a worker trapped under a crane, someone watching the mission falls into a gravel pit. In the ER, Scott (Scott Wolf) has to treat an earlier patient anew. Then, Jordan’s (Jill Flint) date needs her professional help, while TC and Drew (Brendan Fehr) end up spending a night in jail.

8 p.m. on SYFY Paranormal Witness

In the season premiere, “Voodoo Preacher,” writer Jenny Scott tries to retrace a trip “To Kill a Mockingbird” author Harper Lee made back to her home state of Alabama to research the story of an enigmatic minister who was accused of murder and the practicing of occult rituals.

8:01 p.m. on USA Mr. Robot

In the new episode “eps2.3logic-b0mb.hc,” Elliot (Rami Malek) is unable to quit the game, while Darlene (Carly Chaikin) turns to Angela (Portia Doubleday) for help. Elsewhere, Dom (Grace Gummer) and the FBI travel to China to investigate five/nine, and Joanna Wellick (Stephanie Corneliussen) is haunted. Christian Slater also stars.

8:02 p.m. on TLC Love at First Kiss

Some of the producers of “The Bachelor” are also behind this new relationship-centric reality series in which single people try to make a connection by kissing a total stranger without introduction. If the pair feels a spark from that fleeting kiss, they go on to a two-minute speed date, which could lead to a date out in the real world. In the premiere, Joanna, a real-estate agent, tosses out her usual policy of never kissing until the third date by smooching Christian, whom she’s never met.

9 p.m. on KWGN Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Multiple guest appearances on “The Big Bang Theory” attest to Wil Wheaton’s sense of humor about himself, and the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” alum gets to offer more evidence of that in this new episode. He joins series regulars Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles to turn suggestions from the studio audience into improvised skits and songs. Comic Gary Anthony Williams also appears. Aisha Tyler is the host. Another episode follows.

9 p.m. on KRMA Spillover — Zika, Ebola & Beyond

The current international concern about the Zika virus has given rise to renewed attention to viruses that “spill over” from humans to animals, the subject of this new documentary. Scientists from North America to Africa are seen working on anticipating and containing such outbreaks, a process that also factors in the Ebola and Nipah crises. The special also profiles a global organization called PREDICT, which encompasses related studies in 20 nations.

11 p.m. on fX Tyrant

An intense backlash ensues when Barry (Adam Rayner) bans open prayer at the university in the aftermath of some thwarted attacks by terrorists in the new episode “A Rock and a Hard Place.” Al-Qadi (Annet Mahendru) is among those speaking out against the restriction on religious freedom. As Leila’s (Moran Atias) campaign heats up, Barry turns to Daliyah (Melia Kreiling) for comfort.
